EU Blue Card Visa

Documents to be submitted

You have to be present at the Embassy for verification of your identity and to provide your fingerprints.

Please submit the following documents and make sure to divide the documents into

originals, 1st set of copies & 2nd set of copies and kindly remove any staples from your documents


⬜ duly completed and signed national visa application forms (VIDEX) (2 originals)

⬜ biometric passport Pictures not older than 6 months (2 pieces, white/grey background- teeth cannot be visible) Photo requirements

⬜ valid passport (data page and signature page only) (original + 2 copies)

⬜ valid Malaysian permit (applicable to non-Malaysians only) (original + 2 copies)

⬜ curriculum vitae in English or in German (2 originals)

⬜ contract/ binding job offer signed by both parties with details of gross annual salary (original + 2 copies)

declaration of Employment (Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis) to be filled out by your employer in Germany (2 copies - to be downloaded via )

⬜ certificate about compulsory health insurance (Gesetzliche oder private Krankenversicherung) from German employer valid from date of employment (2 copies)

Please note: If not already included in the compulsory health insurance a separate travel health insurance has to be presented for the time frame from arrival in Germany until beginning of employment

⬜ academic qualifications: German university degree or recognized foreign degree (certificate and transcripts) (original + 2 copies)

⬜ printout of search result from the anabin website or statement of comparability from the German Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) (original + 2 copies)

The recognition of your University Degree and Degree course title can be verified through the Database on the Anabin website http://anabin.kmk.org.

Statement of Comparability for Foreign Higher Education Qualifications

The Statement of Comparability is an official document issued by the “Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen” (Central Office for Foreign Education – ZAB) that describes a foreign higher education qualification, its professional and academic usage. The ZAB Statement of Comparability can facilitate access to the German labour market for holders of foreign higher education qualifications. It is a comparative assessment but not a recognition certificate.

EU Blue Card

The EU Blue Card allows third-country nationals with a university degree to take up employment in Germany comparable with their qualifications.

The EU Blue Card, like all long-term residence permits, is issued exclusively by the relevant Immigration Office in Germany. You must apply for the National Visa, which is required in advance, from the Embassy.
