Ambassador-designate Silke Riecken-Daerr

Silke Riecken-Daerr is Ambassador-designate of Germany to Malaysia since August 2025.
A career diplomat with over two decades of professional experience, she worked in London, Teheran, Berlin and Brussels. Just before moving to Kuala Lumpur, she held several assignments in Brussels, working both with the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, most recently serving as Deputy Director of the Private Office of Secretary General of NATO.
In Berlin, she advised two German Foreign Ministers on Cabinet affairs and worked as Senior Advisor in the Foreign Policy Team of the German Chancellor. She started her diplomatic career at the German Embassy in Teheran. Prior to joining the German Foreign Ministry in 2007, she worked for several years in the UK’s Cabinet Office in London, for the City of London, and at the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union in Brussels. She studied at the London School of Economics, King’s College London, Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and the College of Europe in Bruges.
She is married and has two daughters.
