The applicant's passport must be valid for at least three more months counting from the date of anticipated return to Malaysia.
Furthermore the passport has to contain enough blank pages for the visa and entry stamps and has to be issued during the last 10 years.
If you apply for a residence permit for Germany, your passport has to extend the duration of the visa you are applying for by at least three months.
